The world witnessed a devastating smallpox epidemic in the late 1940s that reached Saudi Arabia, Abdulrahman was a four-year-old boy at the time who witnessed the terrible suffering of this disease as he afflicted his entire community. When a family member died in his hands. Abdulrahman vowed to do something about it. To help people overcome disease and infection. Abdulrahman grew and developed his love and passion for medicine and medical matters and was attracted to his profession as the magnet – there was no other option – was destined to become a doctor. Abdulrahman graduated from the University in 1972 and became the first qualified doctor from the Eastern Province in addition to the first Saudi to join the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in London. Upon his return from medical training in the UK, The Saudi government honored Dr. Meshari for his exceptional achievements, The government realized then that it needed to establish a medical school in the kingdom to help train other Saudi medical students. Several years later, Dr. Al-Mishari was appointed Deputy Director and Head of the Department of Gynecology at King Khalid University Hospital. at that time, The Kingdom was developing rapidly and began a major expansion program for both the University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Al-Mishari has been invited to the new buildings design and construction management project. After many years of specialization in the teaching profession. Dr. Mishari decided to achieve another dream of his dream to contribute to the infrastructure of a fast growing economy in the Kingdom by establishing the first private hospital in the Kingdom. Using his savings he built throughout his life, he was able to buy a piece of land in Riyadh, which he then used as collateral to get a loan from the bank – to build a hospital. Dr. Abdulrahman Mishari Hospital was inaugurated by Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1987. Finally, Dr. Mashari’s sacrifices and hard work paid off. A wonderful dream for a four-year-old child has become a reality. And today, This hospital has become one of the most trusted and respected healthcare institutions across the Kingdom. Dr. Mashary died on 3 March 2016 at the age of 76. Surrounded by his family, friends and staff, the place he built for others to share, That hospital he built with his heart and soul, The place where he dedicated his life – Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mishari Hospital. The impact of Dr. Mishari’s achievements will be alive for all generations to come throughout the Kingdom. So that he and his legacy can survive through his patients, his staff and the staff he cares about every night. Dr. Meshari will be missed a lot, His affection will remain in our hearts forever.
